Despite the uncertainty in the geopolitical and economic context, Airbus maintains its upward slope

In the first quarter of 2022, Airbus achieved turnover of 12 billion euros, an increase of 15% and a net profit of 1.219 billion euros compared to 462 million euros a year earlier. It recorded 253 total orders for commercial aircraft (Q1 2021: 39 aircraft) and 83 net orders after cancellations (Q1 2021: -61 aircraft). The order book remains particularly comfortable with 7,023 commercial aircraft as of March 31, 2022. For comparison, Boeing is claiming 4,200 aircraft.

The Airbus group is also Airbus Helicopters, which posted 56 net orders (Q1 2021: 40 units) and was notified of a contract under the Tiger MkIII attack helicopter modernization programme. Orders for Airbus Defense and Space increased to €3.2 billion (Q1 2021: €2.0 billion). These orders include the general Eurodrone contract signed in February 2022, which covers development and production of 20 systems and initial 5-year operational support for Germany, France, Italy and Spain.

Airbus is continuing to increase production of its A320 family commercial aircraft to 65 aircraft per month in the summer of 2023, although the environment is complex.  » Based on customer demand analysis and assessment of industrial ecosystem capabilities, the company is working with its suppliers and partners to achieve production of 75 units per month in 2025. Airbus says it will achieve higher production rates by expanding the capabilities of existing industrial sites and strengthening its industrial presence at Mobile (USA), while investing in all of its commercial aircraft assembly sites so that it can produce the A321s.

For the A321XLR, the company continues to expect a maiden flight by the end of the second quarter of 2022. It is tentatively scheduled for the end of 2023, to be put into operational service in early 2024 in order to meet certification requirements.
